Every year I look forward to spending some time at the seaside and traveling to other countries and visit new places and learn about new culture. For me, nothing is more important than traveling and experiencing the world. I would spend all my money on traveling and I would never regret that choice.
Usually, I travel with my sister and one friend and we are used to this type of traveling where we organize all to ourselves and pay for our hotels, tickets, everything on our own without any agency.
This time we choose Mallorca for next destination and it was impulse trip just because we found a cheap flight from Graz for 120 euros with luggage included.

We booked hostel true Bokking.com and decided to stay 5 nights in Cala Ratjada that is on the north of the island and 2 nights in biggest city Palma de Mallorca.
A trip to Graz we arranged easily.
Mallorca is the biggest Island of Balearic Islands. It is an island that lives from tourism and all things here are made so it fulfills tourist needs. The whole island lives from British and German tourists that come here in large number but you can also find tourists from France, China, Serbia, Italy and other countries.
North part of the island is a place where most German tourists stay in. South of the island and the city of Palma are more adjusted for British people.
When choosing where to stay in Mallorca we decided to go to Cala Ratjada because of beaches and seaside.
Because Cala Ratjada is adjusted from German tourists there are a lot of people from Germany working over the summer in this place. Also a lot of people, locals, will speak just Spanish and German so if you know just English it can be challenging to communicate with people in Cala Ratjada.
But for the other side things that will blow your mind and make you forget about language challenges are sea and beaches that are located here.

Map of Mallorca and Cala Ratjada, stars show beaches in Cala Ratjada |
BEACHES AT CALA RATJADA
When you come here you will find out that Cala Ratjada has three beaches next to this small town. Two are smaller beaches and one is big and beautiful beach called Cala Agulla. This beach was the one that stole our hearts and we stayed every day there with no need to go to other beaches.
Cala Agulla is a big sandy beach with white sand that never gets to warm so you can't walk bare feet. Sea is light blue in color and it is the same color as on the pictures (no picture for this post is adjusted by filters or retouched) colors are true to what I have seen there and it is pure beauty.
Sun goes down around 22h so you can stay on the beach till 20h. It gets quite warm but a wind blows all the time so you will not feel the sun burning your skin - be careful from 12pm till 5pm and always put sun cream with SPF factor. On windy weather, you get sunburns easily because it is not too hot and you do not feel it.

This beach has clear water and a lot of fishes in deeper parts, also when you approach sea you will see that sand gets different in color - light pink. This beach has all you need - a small shop with snacks and drinks, toilets and sunbeds if you want. If you prefer natural shade you have it here also.
There is no wifi on this beach so you can relax without interruption and without looking at your phone. For us, that was a good thing.
Other 2 beaches near Cala Ratjada were Cala Gat and Cala Son Moll.
First one is a small sand beach with a natural shade that is perfect for a family but for us, it was too small. Cala Son Moll is bigger but close to big hotels so it is always crowded. In Spain all beaches are public and hotels do not have their own beaches.
All three beaches are connected by a promenade that goes next to the sea.
SVAKODNEVICA CALA RATJADE (šta pojesti i probati u ovom mestu)
EVERYDAY LIFE IN CALA RATJADA (what to eat an what to try)
EVERYDAY LIFE IN CALA RATJADA (what to eat an what to try)
As I said this small town is a place where a lot of German tourists stay in so everything is adjusted to their needs. There are a lot of restaurants with Spanish food but also restaurants with meat specials that German people like. We eat paella for 12 euros and most of the Spanish deashes cost around 12 euros and more especially if they include seafood.
When in Spain you need to try TAPAS - small bights that are great with whine or bear. The most popular place for Tapas is a bar called LLagost. You can try up to 35 different tapas here and each one is 1,5 euros.
Nightlife is not so diverse in this part of the island. There are a few nightclubs but they are more suited for younger people. There is one typical German pub and a few more places where you can have a drink. Don't miss a chance to try sangria and Spanish whine.
You can try also ice-cream and sweets here, eat pizza or kebab and Chinese food if you like.
PALMA DE MAJORKA
Tapas at Llagost |
PALMA DE MALLORCA
During our holiday we decided to spend 3 days in the biggest town on the island - Palma. This is a typical Mediterranean town with a lot of influence from the Catholic church. In the center of the town, there is a big cathedral that has a fantastic view of the beach and sea line. In front of it, there is a nice park that will provide shade to all people coming to see the cathedral.
The town is quite big and crowded. You can find here all the different cultures and people from all around the world.
The town is alive day and night and around the cathedral, it is an old town that has small, narrow streets with typical Spanish look to them. A lot of restaurants are settled in this area so you can enjoy lunch or dinner and have a glass of vine.
Next, to the Cathedral, there is a harbor where you can see hundreds of small boats, big yachts, and cruise ships. Also, the harbor is a place where a lot of nightclubs are settled and this part of the town is alive true the night.
If you are in Mallorca you must visit this town it is so charming and nice and you will enjoy it.
Palma has two beaches that are part of the town and you go by public transport to them. We wend just one called Cala Major.
This is a sandy beach that is surrounded by hotels and there is a lot of people on it.
Water is nice and warmer than in the north part of the island but also it is not so clear and clean.
