Visiting London part 2 / poseta Londonu drugi deo

By Beauty junkie - 11.2.18

Today we continue with my visit to London. I'll show you what I have seen there and what places I think are worth it and how is the best way to plan your trip.

The best thing you can do when planning your trip to London is to make a list of places you will see. Put it on your tablet, phone or write it in hand but have it with you because the immigration officer at the airport can ask you that.
Also when traveling to the UK see to have a credit card as a insurance for officers that you have enough money.
Write in the paper what you want to see in London, explore online and find places that look appealing to you.

Danas nastavljamo post o mom putu u London.

When you arrive in London you will need one afternoon to figure out where are you at and to orient in space. If you find one big street next to your accommodation it will be easy. Also, the first thing you need to learn about London is to watch your step and always look the other way because you know that they use a different side of the street.
My hotel was near Picadilly station and from there the biggest street was Oxford street and across it Hyde park - so orientation wasn't a problem after I walked to the street and park. You can go everywhere by foot.
Hyde Park is a big oasis in the city center and it is near Buckingham Palace. In this part is Kingston palace where Prince William and Kate are living. Park is huge with few lakes inside. Also, one street goes true it but everything else you need to visit walking.
You will see police officers on horses here, people running, walking, doing sports - football on all grass surface - you are in the UK so football tradition is expected.
In this park is also a statue of King Albert and across it Royal Albert Hall.
If you are in that area you need to visit the Natural history museum which is in a beautiful building that looks like palace and exhibition inside is interesting because it shows all parts on nature that surrounds us but also you will see skeletons of dinosaurs and other ancient animals.
The museum is filled with children - you will walk by children who are exploring this place, learning inside and doing school projects. I couldn't see all parts of the museum because it is huge but the whole experience was beautiful. February in London was cold and windy so visiting museums was a chance to get warm and see something.
How windy was in London you'll see in my pictures. I bought a cap first day of my arrival and it was almost always on my head. Next to water, in parks and on bridges wind makes you feel much colder but I had rain just for one day so exploring London was much easier without it.
From London Natural museum you can take Tube to Buckingham Palace or walk to it because it is really close.

If I can say the Buckingham Palace is not so stunning as I thought. So many other places are beautiful and have so interesting architecture - Natural museum and Westminster are just two that I like more than big Palace itself. From the palace, everything is close, just a step away. All around from Oxford street and Hyde Park where Palace of Prince William and Kate is to the Thames river and Westminster part you can walk true beautiful parks with ponds and ducks and pelicans. Westminster is so beautiful and available to walk around it. Big Ben you can't really see because it is under restoration now and next 5 years so you will just see a clock and the best part of the day to see it is at nights when it shines and you can see it from far.
When you reach river bank you will see how beautiful London is. Both sides of the river have to offer something.
Just a walk away from Westminster is London eye. This is city adventure that you must visit. I am afraid of height but I had to go inside of capsule and be on top of London. Price for one ticket is expensive and it is 27 pounds but it is worth it. That was the best trip of my life and I am still amazed by a view and whole feeling I had during that ride.

Another great view and a great visit was to the Tower Bridge. You can go inside of it and see how everything works, how the bridge is opened and if you are lucky one you will visit it on a day when it gets open. You'll see and how machines inside work and how they get the bridge open. You can walk on glass flour and look down on Thames river. Tickets for a visit is around 10 pounds and it is worth that money. Picture of this bridge is probably one picture you always see in movies and it makes you feel like you are a part of one.

Other places I visited in these 5 days and that I recommend to you are - Carnaby street - small, colorful and with cute stores and real British feel to it.
when in London you need to go to Borough market. You will see so many foods, cheese, homemade cupcakes, fresh fish and plates of seafood and you can walk along market and after that go to Globe theater.
Entrance to market is in London Bridge, you will see painted sign and crowd that goes in that direction will guide you inside. Also, you can see shops next to market that shows how cheese is made and after that, you follow the signs to Globe theater. Next to theatre is Millenium Bridge and across the bridge is St. Pauls Cathedral. This is a small tour that you can do for yourself and take pictures - no need for metro, traffic, just walking along the river bank and enjoying the view and feel of London.

Visiting London is nothing if you do not go to Camden - a small part of town where it is famous Horse market. This place has so vivid and interesting architecture and artistic feel to it. Amy Winehouse was living here when she moved to London so this part of town has her statue. Horse tunnel market is made in a place where there used to be horse stables and you can find interesting product handmade, art galleries, leather stores and a lot of stores with unique and avant-garde clothes.
For the end, you need to go to a platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross train station. Also, there is a store dedicated to Harry Poter fans. If you are looking for another superhero from London you know that Sherlock Holmes lived here and his house is also a touristic attraction with the officer in clothes like in old time. Ticket for this is not cheap, from 12 to 16 pounds so I skip this attraction and just passed by his home.

There are more places to talk about - Covent garden is one of those. I visited it just by dark an the end of one day but I hope I'll go some other time to visit it again because it looks so nice and interesting and markets are places where you can see how one city breathes and all different things, cultures, and much more.
For today this is it from London. If you go there do not miss out the chance to try English tea and breakfast in some small cafe. Try carrot cake or some other sweets because they have really good once and do not be fooled British people drink coffee a lot and you will see them on streets with coffee in hand.
If you visit London I am sure you'll fall in love like I did. This is a town where I would gladly go back one day and I hope I will get a chance.

Till next time...

Dunja!

Do novog čitanja...
Pozdrav!
Dunja!
